MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte shared an "intimate" dinner with 15 members of the Senate majority late Tuesday, according to one of the lawmakers present.
Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito did not elaborate on the gathering. He posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: "Intimate dinner with the President and my colleagues."
Duterte was shown seated between Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.
Also present were Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Majority Leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, and Senators Manny Pacquiao, Richard Gordon, Joel Villanueva, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sonny Angara, Sherwin Gatchalian, Loren Legarda, Nancy Binay, Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe.
Three other senators from the majority were not in Ejercito's picture: Panfilo Lacson, Francis Escudero and Gringo Honasan.
Also absent were Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and fellow minority Senators Francis Pangilinan, Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, Antonio Trillanes IV and Leila de Lima, who is detained on drug charges that she has repeatedly denied.
Duterte on February also held a late-night meeting with several senators at the Presidential palace.
