MANILA, Philippines — Detained Sen. Leila De Lima on Sunday slammed former jueteng whistleblower Sandra Cam anew and said she should be investigated and jailed for her “evil” acts.
“Sandra Cam must not be allowed to have a respectable position of trust in government. She must instead be investigated for certain nefarious activities,” De Lima said in her handwritten letter.
De Lima was reacting to media reports that Cam, a supporter of Duterte, and a former senatorial candidate endorsed by Duterte, got irate when she was not given a VIP treatment she expected at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Cam reportedly cursed the airport staff and claimed she would become a Cabinet member in three months.

Duterte said he learned of the alleged NAIA incident and said he would leave it to the public to judge Cam’s behavior. He also denied that there is already a Cabinet post reserved for the latter but said he is willing to give her work if she requested.
“Magpatay pa tayo ng Cabinet bago… kumpleto na yan eh,” Duterte was quoted in a press conference.
“She helped me during the election at tutulungan ko siya. Utang na loob yan e. So yan ang promise ko, tutulungan ko siya. If she asks for work, tutulungan ko siya,” the president added.
De Lima then accused Cam of “playing a major role in massive demolition job staged by the Duterte regime” against her.
The detained senator said Cam, and other character and operators she described as “shady,” committed harassment, coercion and blackmailing of prospective witnesses.
“Mission accomplished, hence the impending reward to be bestowed upon her by her principal that's the ‘debt of gratitude,’” De Lima said.
“Because of that ‘special’ relationships with the tyrant, Sandra Cam thinks and acts she is untouchable. This evil of a woman must be exposed, prosecuted, and jailed,” she added.
De Lima also cited that her credible sources told her that Cam is involved in illegal gambling and drugs which add as grounds to probe her.
For her part, Cam did not deny that there was an incident at the airport. She, however, denied that she did not boast a supposed Cabinet position reserved for her and blamed it on the reporter.
